Studio Apartment with Plunge Pool in Akua Development

"I lived working from home office for 6 months, the place is luxurious and you save a good amount of money with the gym, the shared office (you save on air conditioning and internet) and even the laundry service, it has shaded parking so that's also a plus, the area is super safe, the power went out at the beginning but in recent months the infrastructure improved a lot and there haven't been any more outages"

Please don’t come to this property, they have a bug problem - that too white leeches; they sprayed a poisonous spray without proper protocols. A lot of construction noise, smoke, dust that I collapsed with near death consequences for 2-3 months near the room, building and around. Our repeated complaints were ignored. The room I was in had lead poisoning and surrounding areas. No proper action was taken, neither it was safe for anyone. There’s a property manager called Gely - she did a lot of fraud and abusive activities, she misused the information we told her, tampered the evidence, manipulated other staff who saw that & were trying to help me in emergency and charged us a lot of money without notice even after complaining repeated times she didn’t do anything and said different things at different time. We are still recovering and going through legal procedures. Our money, time, health, experience was lost. It might look okay in early days but you will realise the problems later, not a lot of people staying there, away from main area, not well equipped, not safe for anyone, especially kids. The situation was so bad, I thought everything is going to blast and we had to leave all our stuff and their cleaner went inside without our authorization. We had to do a lot of management and implement safety protocols ourselves or we could have been dead in apartment. I didn’t want to comment publicly but we wanted to warn everyone, they were inhuman and could not be okay with it because it was severe.

Very elegant complex, it has many amenities such as private parking, elevator, 2 big pools (the one on the rooftop is amazing), a temazcal, bikes for rent (eventhough our host gave us bikes for free), gym, yoga, cowork. And also a good laundry room. Best of aldea zama.

Highlights include excellent water pressure—the best I’ve had in Tulum—and a tankless water heater providing unlimited hot water. However, the heater’s electrical wiring isn’t robust enough, causing the fuse to trip often, requiring a reset between showers. The hair dryer is also a nice touch: compact, simple, and powerful. The Wi-Fi was strong and reliable, and the cleaning was impeccable, leaving everything fresh. I appreciated the high-quality, free-to-use washers and dryers. The apartment is quite compact—the smallest I’ve stayed in during three months in Tulum—so it may not suit long-term stays or daily cooking. The building’s design lacks privacy, resembling a fishbowl, seemingly prioritizing more units over comfort. Some design flaws: the lobby accumulates slippery pools of water during heavy rain. Also, ongoing construction next door causes significant noise during the day!

Spent a week here and it’s very beautiful. Getting to it can be confusing especially at night if not familiar with the area. The room was clean, well decorated and being able to open the door and have the pool right there was great. But - there is not hot water and the pool isn’t in direct sunlight. Shower only has cold water as well. Parking is easy and the staff that they have are very friendly! Lots of room to store things, had a big tv, huge bed! There is also a gym, laundry room, and other amenities. Worth the money, just be prepared for a few quirky things and you should love it!

Beautiful facility, where we stayed for 20 nights. Two small swimming pools, we used the one on the roof in the evening hours, and we liked it. The stairs and pools are cleaned well daily, there are several spaces to practice bodybuilding, fitness, yoga. The reception/security staff are very kind, they satisfy every request with a smile. However, this facility is located in a new area of Tulum, so renting a car is essential.
