"Beautiful welcome and excellent service from the moment we arrived. The place is stunning, definitely one of the most aesthetic and Instagrammable hotels I’ve stayed in. Every detail of the decoration and design is carefully thought out, creating a relaxing and elegant atmosphere. Highly recommended for both the experience and the photos!"

It’s not that babel isn’t nice, it’s just a bit of a one trick pony. You stay there because of the architecture. That’s about it. The location is not great, there’s nothing around The pool is not as nice as the photos let on, in fact, I didn’t even wanna get in the steam room is absolutely disgusting and neglected. The noise level can be awful in some units. For the price, you can stay at places with seven pools and an in-house gym and a loft of a similar size . Staff are not in any way accomodating The lofts are beautiful tho

I think they are writing their own reviews - including all these fancy pics? IDK something is off hammam is advertised as an amenity and is DISGUSTING dirty and impossible to use (mold!) which makes no sense at all. they want extra money to heat up this smelly, dirty, dark room. why advertise a beautiful steam room and let plants take over and make it moldy and gross? this is the fault of management. they dont care. hot tub wasn't hot at all pool was often dirty unit was VERY noisy - disappointing stay price was 2x times other stays. stayed in November.

Do Not Book with Babel ! We planned a two-day stay at Babel to celebrate a special occasion at the end of our Tulum trip. By that point, we were already familiar with Tulum’s general pricing culture and “upsell everything” approach. Unfortunately, Babel takes this to another level. Yes, the property is visually striking. The architecture and photos are exactly what draw you in. However, aesthetics alone do not make a hotel experience ,hospitality does. At Babel, nearly everything is an added cost: lighting a candle in the room, using the cold plunge pool with warm water, even milk for your coffee. Each guest is given a single coffee token for the entire stay, and that coffee is black ,any addition costs extra. At one point, we were provided only two hand towels and one bath towel for a couple, and the overall atmosphere made us hesitant to even ask for another. It's possible in the future they might charge extra for electricity and water too. Tulum already suffers from poor cell reception, so reliable Wi-Fi is essential. We had zero cellular at Babel. Upon check-in, the Wi-Fi was not working. We patiently asked for updates and were told by the front desk manager that there was no guarantee it would be fixed. Technical issues happen we understand that. What made this frustrating was the lack of communication and infrastructure. There is no intercom system, so every update required us to walk back and forth between our room and reception. This process wasted nearly three hours of our day. To make matters worse, the manager eventually stated that she did not know if the Wi-Fi would work at all and suggested we leave the hotel in exchange for a refund. This was on my birthday, the very reason we had chosen this stay. When we asked to speak to her senior, Josefina, she abruptly refused to provide contact details. While it’s likely she was following instructions, the expectation that guests should simply pack up and leave rather than the hotel offering a basic, empathetic resolution was disappointing and unprofessional. We ended up using the front desk Wi-Fi to search for alternative hotels, only to find that everything comparable was significantly more expensive on short notice. Not wanting to lose the day entirely, we stayed for the duration we had already paid for. At checkout, guests are required to wait 15 minutes while staff inspects the room for inventory. While I understand that policies exist due to past issues, it leaves you feeling more like a liability than a valued guest ,especially at a property charging rates comparable to a Hilton. Mistakes and technical failures can happen. What matters is how they’re handled. At this price point, Babel fails to deliver basic hospitality, competence, or empathy. In conclusion: choose experience over aesthetics. Respect yourself and your time, Do not book Babel.

Stayed here for nearly a month, rooms are really nice and cosy. Pool area is nice and although it’s sheltered I still got a good 6 hours of sun a day when I wanted to chill and sunbath there. Massage was really really good too! Staff friendly and really responsive and helpful to everything on WhatsApp at all hours. The hotel dog is so cute and friendly, when you give it a bit of close attention it gets really attached to you and follows you about sometimes 😃

Babel Tulum is a very nice and stylish place, with a modern design and pleasant atmosphere. However, with a few improvements it could be much better. The pool area was quite disappointing — it didn’t seem to be cleaned daily, even from trash left by guest, which affected the overall experience of common areas. The apartments are not cleaned during the stay. In our case, the apartment was not cleaned even once during a one-week stay, which was a major drawback. Specially due to humidity, would be nice to have dry/clean towers and sheets. The hammam/steam room was not in use, which was disappointing, especially as it is advertised as an amenity. No toiletries, just a sope - quite basic. No kitchen towels etc. - bit difficult to maintain cleaning of dishes and so on (that is not provided). The B Café has excellent coffee, but that’s unfortunately where it ends. The menu is extremely limited, with no real food options, and it was closed on some days, which was inconvenient. Overall, Babel Tulum has great potential and strong aesthetics, but the amenities and service consistency need improvement to match the quality suggested by the design.

Exercise extreme caution before booking extra services here.** I prepaid Babel Tulum for round-trip airport transportation, but because I didn't use the return leg, I requested a refund. It has been months, and I am still waiting. Their management continues to claim that refunds for extra services are essentially at their "courtesy" and "discretion," using this as an excuse to keep my money indefinitely. They repeatedly tell me to "be patient," but it has become clear this is a shady tactic to avoid returning funds for a service they never provided. Do not fall for the convenience of booking through the hotel—book your own transport elsewhere so you don't lose your money.

This is the 16th property I’ve stayed at in Tulum, and I’d been meaning to try it for a long time because it looks gorgeous. Visually, it’s stunning and captures the classic Tulum vibe. The apartments are spacious, with a clean, well-designed layout. One concern I noticed in past reviews was the extra charges for almost everything, such as heating the jacuzzi or accessing the steam room. The unit itself and the furnishings are cozy and comfortable, with ample storage for luggage. It’s perfect for meditation. However, there is a noticeable dampness and scent in the apartment. The WiFi in my unit was average and disconnected frequently. The hot water is tank-based, so long or back-to-back showers aren’t practical. The refrigerator is very loud, and the pillows are quite flat.
